Palmetto, GA—January 27, 2014—As the potential for winter weather increases, Coweta-Fayette EMC personnel are preparing for the possibility of snow in the co-op service territory.
According to EMC officials, Coweta-Fayette will monitor the ever-changing situation and act quickly if inclement weather approaches.
“Right now, we’re unsure how much of the winter mix we’ll receive,” said co-op CEO Anthony “Tony” Sinclair. “Despite storm path uncertainty, we want to assure consumers we are prepared and ready to restore electric service in the event we’re affected.”
Coweta-Fayette—already watching weather conditions closely—has developed a variety of contingency plans to address problems associated with snow. The EMC has mobilized employees and contract crews, prepared trucks with emergency equipment and procured necessary materials should the winter weather cause problems. Additionally, those electric cooperatives that could be hit the hardest have called upon unaffected EMCs to provide help and support if the need arises.
While Coweta-Fayette EMC will continue to watch this winter storm, co-op officials would like to remind members to keep abreast of weather developments and take every precaution in the event of icy conditions.
Consumers should contact Coweta-Fayette at 770-502-0226 to report any power outages. Storm updates and tips may be obtained through the EMC’s Facebook page or website (www.utility.org).
Coweta-Fayette EMC is consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to over 74,000 member accounts in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Clayton, Spalding, Troup and Meriwether Counties.
