Palmetto, GA – October 15, 2010 – Kenneth Spaller, of Fayette County, was recently honored during Coweta-Fayette EMC’s Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day for 45 years of faithful service on the co-op’s Board of Directors.
Numerous other employee and board service award winners were announced, as well as distinguished visitors from Coopeguanacaste, Coweta-Fayette’s sister cooperative in Costa Rica.
Over 2,500 people turned out for the event, held on a picture-perfect fall morning at cooperative headquarters in Palmetto.
The Oct. 9 festival featured carnival games, arts and crafts, information about EMC services, prize drawings, health screenings, delicious food and inspirational music. Coweta-Fayette employees and staff were on hand during the event to meet and greet members and answer any questions that arose.
Meeting attendees enjoyed gifts, activities, snacks and music performed by Newnan gospel group Eternal Flame, but most eagerly awaited the drawing for grand prize – a $1,000 electric bill credit.
As in previous years, there was plenty of entertainment for the EMC’s smallest members, from kids’ crafts and temporary tattoos to a variety of amusement activities and carnival prizes. With games like Skee Ball, Lucky Ducks, Quarterback Football, Tic Tac Toe, Ring Toss, Lily Pad Leap, Pelican Fish Pitch, Mega Wheel and Can Smash, there was something for everyone.
For adults, knife sets were given out as Member Appreciation Gifts, and the chance to participate in a massive prize bingo game was provided. The always-helpful Piedmont Newnan Hospital health fair returned to the celebration, with professional services and assessments that allowed hundreds of members the opportunity to get informed and get healthy.
Following an entertaining and educational morning, the EMC’s business meeting got underway. With no opposition, Directors K.M. Spaller, J. Neal Shepard and Therol R. Brown were declared winners of the board election and will serve another three-year term.
In addition to this year’s grand prize, many other gifts were presented, including a $50 children’s drawing gift card, a gas grill from Coweta-Fayette EMC Natural Gas and a security system from EMC subsidiary Relyco Security Resources.
“Hosting the Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day is one of our most treasured traditions here at the EMC,” said CEO Anthony “Tony” Sinclair. “We look forward all year long to meeting with our consumers face-to-face and providing them an opportunity to learn more about the co-op in a fun, relaxed setting.”
