Palmetto, GA – March 22, 2013 – In a joint effort to help community Relay For Life fundraising efforts, Coweta-Fayette EMC and Newnan Utilities held the first-ever “Power Play 5K and Fun Run” March 16 at Newnan Utilities’ Carl Miller Park on Sewell Road.
Over 100 employees, family members and friends representing both companies attended the race, which netted approximately $2,440 for the American Cancer Society’s nationwide signature event. Locally, Relay For Life will take place April 26-27 at the Coweta County fairgrounds in Newnan.
“Our employees had so much fun working and racing for a good cause with their counterparts at Newnan Utilities,” said Coweta-Fayette EMC Marketing Vice President Mary Ann Bell. “We’re hoping next year will be even bigger, with more funds raised for this important cause.”
Newnan Utilities General Manager Dennis McEntire echoed that sentiment. “We were pleased to partner with the EMC on the Power Play 5K. Not only did this event benefit a great charity, it also provided a healthy outing for our employees and their families,” he said.
Since 1904, Newnan Utilities has served the City of Newnan water, sewer and electricity with a proud, century-long history of environmental leadership, corporate responsibility and customer care.
Coweta-Fayette EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to over 74,000 member accounts in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Clayton, Spalding, Troup and Meriwether Counties.
