Palmetto, GA—September 2, 2015—To help local members of the community who lack access to regular healthcare, the Coweta-Fayette EMC Trust, Inc. Board of Directors/Operation Round Up recently donated funds to the Fayette CARE Clinic for the hiring of additional staff.
The clinic, a non-profit organization created to provide primary health care to members of the community who lack access to such services, seeks to promote the health and well-being of Fayette County’s uninsured and working poor through compassionate patient care. They offer medical, dental, vision, dermatology, cardiology, physical therapy, gynecology, chiropractic care, education, prevention and much more, providing a plug for existing holes in the healthcare system.
The Fayette CARE Clinic currently provides health services to over 900 local patients each year.
“The tremendous good this organization does for our community cannot be stressed enough,” said Coweta-Fayette EMC CEO Chris Stephens. “We are honored the Trust Board chose to use Operation Round Up funds for the Fayette CARE Clinic.”
Operation Round Up is a Coweta-Fayette EMC program that contributes more than $250,000 each year to worthy groups in the cooperative service area. These awards are made possible by voluntary contributions from EMC members whose monthly electric bills are “rounded up” to the nearest dollar. The difference between what is actually owed and the next highest dollar is placed in an interest-bearing account, and this money is managed through a separate board of directors, the Coweta-Fayette Trust.
Coweta-Fayette EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to more than 76,000 member accounts in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Clayton, Spalding, Troup and Meriwether Counties.
