Local students win Coweta-Fayette EMC scholarships

9 Coweta County students and 10 Fayette County students received a total of $57,000 in scholarships from Coweta-Fayette EMC. 19 students received Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarships, worth $3,000 each; and 6 received Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarships, worth $1,000 each.

The Coweta-Fayette EMC Trust awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to local students each spring. The Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarship recognizes high school seniors with a dedication to community service. The Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarship recognizes deserving students attending Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) or West Georgia Technical College (WGTC).

Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarship winners from Coweta County are:  Ansley Reed, Central Christian School; Lee SangBeom, East Coweta High School; Lauren Vanden Heuvel, Northgate High School; Madison Duke, Northgate High School; Nicholas Jonassen, Trinity Christian School; Sarah Rutt, Trinity Christian School; Canna White, Trinity Christian School; Anna Sweitzer, Trinity Christian School; Pria Pullin, Trinity Christian School.      

Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarship winners from Fayette County are: Anne Williams, Coram Deo Classical School; Mackenzie Foster, Fayette County High School; Jocelyn Wang, McIntosh High School; Corbin McEver, Starr’s Mill High School; Ellie Kalafut, Whitewater High School; Charity Cloud, Whitewater High School; Elise Copeland, Whitewater High School; Oliva Van Meter, Whitewater High School; Julianne York, Whitewater High School; William Pearce, Whitewater High School.

Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarship winners from Coweta County are: Angilina Oakes, WGTC; Bernardo Roda, WGTC; Jennifer Wilson, WGTC.

Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarship winners from Fayette County are: Alli Wright, SCTC; Chelsea Atkinson, SCTC; Laura Das Neves, SCTC.

Both Melissa Segars Scholarships and Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarships are made possible by Operation Round-Up. Operation Round-Up is a program in which Coweta-Fayette EMC members voluntarily “round-up” their electric bills to benefit the community.
