Palmetto, GA – April 30, 2015 – When it comes to environmental sustainability, even the smallest acts of green can make a huge difference.
With that message in mind, coupled with the cooperative principle of “Concern for Community,” Coweta-Fayette EMC recently celebrated Earth Day by donating bird feeders and seed to two fire stations in Coweta and Fayette Counties.
“The little ways we show concern for our planet and our neighbors are just as important as the immense acts,” said EMC Senior Public Relations Vice President Mary Ann Bell. “Environmental activism and related service projects can be a catalyst, regardless of size or scope. Inspiring others to be good Earth stewards and to appreciate the beauty of our planet are initiatives we support.”
In addition to community activities, cooperative personnel marked the 45th annual Earth Day observance by wearing green and participating in office festivities. Green snacks, a small gift and efficiency brochures were offered to members in Coweta-Fayette EMC’s three office locations, and employees were given reusable travel mugs to reduce waste.
Coweta-Fayette EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to more than 76,000 member accounts in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Clayton, Spalding, Troup and Meriwether Counties.
Green Power EMC, the statewide cooperative devoted to providing power to Coweta-Fayette EMC and other co-op members using renewable resources, is celebrating its 14th anniversary. The first green cooperative in the state, Green Power EMC continues to be the largest, with over 28 MW of green energy produced from biomass (landfill and wood waste), low impact hydro and solar.
