Nov 4, 2024

Palmetto, GA – Nov. 4, 2024 – True Natural Gas, a leading natural gas provider in Georgia, announces the upcoming retirement of President and CEO Dan Hart, effective March 31, 2025. Under Hart’s leadership, True Natural Gas has seen significant growth and established itself as a strong competitor in the Georgia natural gas industry. Chris Stephens, President and CEO of Coweta-Fayette EMC, will assume the role of CEO of True Natural Gas following Hart’s retirement.

Dan Hart began his career at Coweta-Fayette EMC in 1994 as Vice President of Marketing and was named COO of True Natural Gas in 2002. In 2008, Hart was named CEO of True Natural Gas and has remained in that position for 16 years. Over the course of his tenure, Hart has been instrumental in guiding True Natural Gas through critical expansions, including strategic partnerships with Sawnee EMC in 2007 and Newnan Utilities in 2011. His leadership has built a solid foundation for the company, not only increasing market share but also positioning True Natural Gas as a trusted, customer-focused provider known for transparency and affordability.

Under Hart’s guidance, True Natural Gas also became a key player in renewable energy. The company owns and operates the Michael C. Whiteside Solar Plant, which has provided over 15 million kWh of carbon-free energy for Coweta-Fayette EMC. In addition, Hart’s team oversaw the implementation of the innovative 2.46 MWh battery storage system, which enables the dispatch of solar energy when it is most needed. These accomplishments reflect Hart’s forward-thinking approach to energy management, ensuring True Natural Gas remains competitive in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

Chuck Johnson, Chairman of the Board for True Natural Gas, expressed his gratitude for Hart’s leadership, stating, “Dan has been the driving force behind our success. His vision and commitment to excellence have not only expanded our business but also ensured that True Natural Gas provides reliable, cost-effective service to communities across Georgia. We are deeply thankful for his contributions.”

Neal Shepard, Chairman of the Coweta-Fayette EMC Board, echoed these sentiments, saying, “Dan’s leadership has left an indelible mark on True Natural Gas and the broader energy industry in Georgia. His efforts have strengthened our competitive position while keeping member interests at the forefront. We are grateful for his years of dedication and wish him all the best in his retirement.”

In addition to navigating the complexities of the natural gas market, Hart has built a strong leadership team within True Natural Gas, ensuring a seamless transition as Chris Stephens takes the helm. “Chris is well-prepared to step into this role,” added Johnson. “His experience as President and CEO of Coweta-Fayette EMC, coupled with his deep understanding of our operations, makes him the ideal successor to continue building on Dan’s legacy.”
