Palmetto, GA – November 6, 2012 – In an effort to assist Newnan’s One Roof Ecumenical Alliance Outreach, Coweta-Fayette EMC recently applied for and was granted funding through CoBank—a financial partner of the cooperative—and its “Sharing Success” charitable contribution program.

“We selected One Roof as our non-profit recipient because we believe in what they do here every day,” said Coweta-Fayette CEO Anthony “Tony” Sinclair. “The EMC’s portion of the grant was the least we could do given the multitude of people this organization helps in our community. It is our hope that CoBank’s matching funds will assist One Roof in meeting the ever-changing and complex financial and spiritual needs of those struggling in the area.”

According to Executive Director Derenda Rowe, One Roof— an alliance of multi-denominational churches, community organizations, businesses and individuals—the money will be used to reboot its financial efforts for families in need. She said that recent donations to One Roof had decreased, and the organization had to put a hold on financial relief. Now, the non-profit will be able to help with medications, clothes and school supplies, as well as electric bills, rent and food.

“Shared success has always been a hallmark of the cooperative business model,” said CoBank Vice President Kurt Morris. “Throughout rural America, cooperatives are working not only to provide value to their members, but to improve the quality of life in their local communities. We are delighted to join with you in support of such a worthy cause.”

Coweta-Fayette EMC is a consumer-owned cooperative providing electricity and related services to over 74,000 member accounts in Coweta, Fayette, Heard, South Fulton, Clayton, Spalding, Troup and Meriwether Counties.
