Communications & Digital Content Coordinator

Purpose

To promote among employees and our membership a true sense of ownership in the Cooperative and promote an understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative’s viewpoint, vision, and objectives. Create engagement-centered programs, content and materials to drive member and employee satisfaction under the guidance of the Public Relations and Communication Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging text, video, photo and design content across CFEMC’s digital and print channels. Utilize mobile, budget friendly video shooting and editing apps in a fast-paced, on-the-go environment. Assist with the creation of various communication plans including but not limited to disaster response, rate changes, capital credits, and crisis management ensuring that information is updated regularly.
  • Research data and industry news and works with management to develop stories for publication.
  • Working with the VP of Communications and PR, the Public Relations and Communications Manager, and the Community Relations Coordinator, develop and execute a results-driven social media strategy.
  • Assist in the creation, design and editing of written, video, and photo content for social media, printed pieces, newsletters, and our internal communication platform – The Grid.
  • Manage promotions and schedule social ad campaigns, respond to online reviews and build the Cooperative’s reputation. Provide analytics measuring level of engagement.
  • Manage day-to-day social media activities, develop relevant content to reach the company’s target audience, and interact with users in a social setting while upholding the cooperative’s image and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of cooperative-sponsored or sanctioned events, working closely with the Public Relations and Communications Manager as well the Community Relations Coordinator.
  • Provide input for the annual departmental budget and assist with developing and implementing the department work plan.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for management, showcasing the impact of communication initiatives.
  • Monitor cooperative’s website and update links, stories, newsletters, and other content as directed by the Integrated Communications Team Lead.
  • Perform administrative tasks for the Communications department including but not limited to preparing documents and spreadsheets; preparing presentations; and maintaining electronic files, catalog articles and ads for EMC and its subsidiaries.
  • Serve on rotation for social media during crisis and storm situations. Respond to inquiries and posts from members and the general public.
  • Create ads for placement and publications as directed by the VP of Communications and Public Relations and/or the Public Relations and Communications Manager.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide graphic design assistance as needed.
  • Manage the Touchstone Energy Co-op Connection Card program by maintaining records, soliciting vendors and promoting to members.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the CFEMC Annual Meeting.
  • Actively participate and represent the Cooperative in community, civic, and educational programs, events and projects to promote a favorable public image of the Cooperative.
  • With the Public Relations and Communications Manager, coordinate and publicize participation in the Washington Youth Tour.
  • Maintain and update the Cooperative’s website.

 

Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field /li>
  • Three years of experience in public relations or communications involving regular interaction with public officials, media, and advocacy groups
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and management tools
  • Proficiency with video and photo editing tools, digital media formats, and HTML
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, video editing software, WordPress, Microsoft Office, and Google Analytics
  • Proficient with managing campaigns on multiple social channels such as Facebook, X and YouTube
  • Proactive, well-organized planner who can work independently or in team settings
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a can-do attitude that thrives on collaboration and contribution
  • Proficient in AP Style

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Light work. Involves sitting most of the time; walking, standing, and exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Required to be available and accessible to work irregular hours during emergency situations.
  • Requires travel both inside and outside the cooperative’s service territory.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Requires talking, hearing, standing for sustained periods of time, and walking.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe; read and edit extensively; and view a computer terminal.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately and possess good hearing.
