Elwood Thompson retires after 35 years of service to CFEMC members.
Coweta-Fayette Electric Membership Corporation (CFEMC) is pleased to welcome J. Lee Hunter to its Board of Directors. This appointment is in response to the retirement of long-time Seat 2 Coweta County board member Elwood Thompson.
Thompson began his service to CFEMC members in 1985 when he was elected to the board and has served the members of CFEMC faithfully in that role for 35 years. His wisdom and experience will be missed.
“Mr. Thompson has been a mentor to me during the past 18 years we have served together on the True Natural Gas Board,” Hunter said. “I’ve learned so much from him. I’m honored to fill his unexpired term and look forward to serving the members and employees of Coweta-Fayette EMC as we face the opportunities and challenges ahead.”
Hunter retired from Southwire Company as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer after a 36-year career. He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of West Georgia. He’s is a Registered Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager and has received a U.S. Patent. Hunter also served as a member of the code-making panel of the National Electrical Code for more than 12 years. Although retired, Hunter currently works with his son, Scott, at Hunter Wealth Management, where they help clients achieve their financial goals.
Along with a distinguished career, Hunter has served as member of the True Natural Gas board for 18 years. His civic involvement includes membership in the White Oak Golden Kiwanis Club and Georgia Tech Alumni Association. He is also a member and deacon at Newnan First Baptist Church.
“We are looking forward to having Lee’s leadership on our board,” said CFEMC Board Chairman Jim Fulton. “Lee’s background in finance and the electric industry will be great additions to the Board and ensure we continue serving our members the best way possible.”
