2018 Winners Davis and Park Chosen to Represent CFEMC at National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Tour
Over 100 Georgia students to take part in week-long leadership experience in Washington D.C.
Coweta Fayette Electric Membership Corporation (CFEMC) has selected Madison Davis, a junior at Sandy Creek High School, and Jasmine Park, a junior at East Coweta High School, to attend the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Annual Youth Tour to be held in Washington, D.C. June 7-14.
“We’re excited to have Madison and Jasmine represent our EMC on this tour,” Chellie Phillips, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations, said. “They are both outstanding students and it makes us proud that we have the opportunity to provide this experience for them.”
Participants in the program learn about electric cooperatives, but they also have a chance to see sights of interest in our nation’s capital as well. This year’s students will see: Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, WWII Memorial and Reflecting Pool, Tour Mount Vernon and Arlington Cemetery, see a theatrical production, visit the Smithsonian’s, the FDR Memorial and much more.
Georgia students will join over 1,600 students from across the United States in activities that are designed to provide leadership training and encourage high school students to make a difference in their home communities.
Madison is the daughter of Jerry and Sue Davis. She maintains a 4.0 GPA while taking AP Classes, serving as team captain for the Sandy Creek Girls’ Varsity Soccer team, and being a member of both the Academic Bowl Team and Library Team. She is an intern with both the Fayette Chamber of Commerce and Christian City. Madison plans to earn a degree in International Business or Finance and ultimately pursue her MBA.
