Together, We Do Make a Difference!
Coweta-Fayette EMC’s concern for our community is one of the core principles that sets cooperatives apart from other types of utilities and businesses. We’ve always taken this mission and responsibility to heart. It’s who we are as a co-op. While our purpose is to provide safe and reliable energy to the members we serve, we have a mission to be a catalyst for good. With the holidays fast approaching, we want to ensure our members understand our commitment and how they can help!
By participating in Operation Round-Up, members can help support local organizations in need. The program offers members the opportunity to “round up” their bill to the next highest dollar, with the difference being contributed to a fund which is awarded to various individuals and organizations in need through grants and scholarships. Members can sign up to give at https://utility.org/operation-round-up-purpose/.
In addition, Coweta-Fayette EMC offers the chance to be selected to participate in the Washington Youth Tour program held each year, where the cooperative sends two high school Juniors on an all-expenses-paid trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C. as a way to immerse our community’s youth to democracy in action. Coweta-Fayette EMC has a strong commitment to safety––not just for our employees, but for our community as well. We offer discussions, demonstrations and hands-on activities, encompassing technology, safety and more. Through visiting schools for career days or career expositions, we educate children of all ages how to stay safe when using electricity. With the help of the electrical safety program “Safety City”, elementary-aged students are offered a hands-on learning experience where linemen describe their jobs and allow students to see the tools used each day. During this interactive experience, students are taught about what can happen when making the wrong choices when using electricity. By helping cut wire and examining tools and safety equipment, students learn firsthand the importance of electrical safety. Learn more about our electric safety demonstrations by visiting https://utility.org/my-community/electric-safety-demonstrations/.
Our employees actively serve on local boards, coach youth sports, participate in benefit fundraisers and volunteer at charitable events, such as giving back during the holiday season. We understand that our core job is to provide essential utility services, but our passion is our community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all had to rise to meet new challenges and strengthen the safety net for our community, particularly for those who are most vulnerable. CFEMC has made several adjustments to our programs and operations to maintain business continuity while staying focused on the bigger mission of helping our consumer-members during this turbulent time.
Concern for community is the heart and soul of who we are. And no matter what the future brings, you can count on your electric co-op to care about you.
