PALMETTO, GA (May 20, 2021) — Coweta-Fayette Electric Membership Corporation (CFEMC) has selected Madeleine Pardue, a high school junior at The Heritage School, to represent CFEMC at the 2021 Georgia Electric Cooperative Youth Tour (YTGA) – a virtual leadership experience. The program will be held June 22-24, 2021.
Every year, CFEMC recognizes outstanding high school students who are leaders in their schools, communities, places of worship, or academic and community organizations by providing a valuable leadership experience for exceptional teens through the Washington Youth Tour, which normally involves a trip to the nation’s capital; however, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) decided to hold the program virtually this year due to concerns over COVID-19.
“We’re excited for Madeleine to represent the EMC,” Rachel Camp, CFEMC Youth Tour Coordinator, said. “It’s a competitive process and her application really stood out. We’re also excited to announce in 2022 the Youth Tour program will return to its original format and those winners will be receiving an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC.”
As CFEMC’s YTGA delegate, Pardue will participate in a three-day dynamic interactive experience that will focus on different aspects of leadership and will include access to personality profiles, small group breakout sessions, photo contests, trivia challenges, scholarship opportunities and more.
The unique program will offer Pardue the opportunity to gain lifetime leadership experience, network with fellow, high-achieving peers from across the state, and collaborate in challenges to win one of several scholarships. She will also have the chance to participate in a virtual town hall meeting with Georgia’s legislators.
Pardue currently serves on the National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, Model United Nations, Debate Team, Students Against Human Trafficking Club, Finer Things Club, Garden Club and Key Club at The Heritage School. She has held internships with 7 Cups of Tea and for The Heritage School yearbook staff. Pardue plans to earn an undergraduate degree in Biology, Nursing or Secondary Education after graduating from The Heritage School in 2022.
